The marketplace, or Blade Building, would rise 160 feet — the equivalent of 16 stories — but feature eight floors. The food hall would stretch across three floors that open onto an atrium. A fourth floor would be an open-air space used for atrium dining. The top four floors would cater to private events

“We want to bring in a beautiful market where you have the fishes, the meats, the cheese, the breads,” John said. “And you have little seatings at all these little stations … where you can sit and get your fish and get your meat and sip your wine.”

Best Of The Best / 5 'Best Restaurant' Finalists for Best Of 2021 / South Florida Gay News

It’s time for South Florida Gay News’ annual poll to find out our reader’s favorites in the community in a variety of categories. I just happened to stop by our handsome, charming, and witty editor (shamelessly brown-nosing) Jason Parsley’s desk and spied a list of the finalists. Of course, my eyes zeroed in on the categories related to dining out. 

As usual, the “Best of” category is studded with the most popular places in our community. One thing is certain, there’s no way you could identify a “typical” restaurant from this group, the styles and cuisines are as varied as can be. So are the price-points, from casual to fine-dining. 

Here are the finalists for “Best Restaurant.” I’m listing them in alphabetical order so you can’t claim I’m showing my bias.

NEW / Meatless Chicken Tenders in Grocery Stores Next Month / Ch 6 News

- Beyond Meat will start selling its meat-free chicken tenders in select grocery stores in October. 

- The company rolled out the chicken alternative in restaurants across Canada and the U.S. in July. 

- In its latest quarter, grocery sales accounted for roughly three-quarters of Beyond's U.S. revenue.

Heart Gallery of Broward County launched its traveling photography exhibit of foster children waiting to be permanently adopted in 2007. It partners with ChildNet and local foster care providers to find adoptive families and other connections for these children.
