In Delray Beach, Food Network’s ‘Chopped’ champ will truck blowtorched ice cream to you

Nick Di Bona was a young chef, not yet 30, a winner on the Food Network’s “Chopped” running his first restaurant in an exclusive New York suburb, when the final sentence of an exceptional New York Times review of his work inspired him to rethink his whole career. In her appraisal of the Larchmont restaurant, Madison Kitchen — essentially a four-out-of-five rating — the reviewer spent paragraphs extolling the virtues of Di Bona’s foie gras brûlée and beef Wellington before revealing how particularly smitten she was with his house-made ice cream “which Mr. Di Bona should consider packing in pints to go.”

Chef Laurent Tourondel dishes about his Dune on Fort Lauderdale beach

Now that Dune by Laurent Tourondel has been opened for about two weeks, we got the namesake of the Fort Lauderdale beach restaurant to talk about his latest — and some might say most ambitious — project in South Florida. “It’s well-designed,” Tourondel says when asked what the attraction was for the location. “You know, when you sit on the patio and you see the view on the ocean and the beach and it feels so peaceful. It’s nothing you cannot like about it. It’s a great, great location, a great deal. And...the layout for the inside was great. And the kitchen was amazing. I think the patio should be busy, you know?

Big Brother Star Memphis Garrett Opens No Man’s Land in Fort Lauderdale

With seating for 40, No Man's Land emits an undeniably sultry vibe. Photo by Shelby Cooper Wedged in an unassuming shopping complex with a Winn-Dixie anchor, Fort Lauderdale’s newest cocktail hotspot is appropriately named: No Man’s Land. The 40-seat lounge and restaurant opened on November 3, courtesy of reality star and Fort Lauderdale resident Memphis Garrett. Prior to No Man’s Land, Garrett, who starred on seasons 10 and 22 of Big Brother, operated the popular Poke House and Blue Wave Sushi in the same 666 N. Federal Hwy. space, under the Garrett Hospitality Group umbrella.
