NEWS / Brightline is officially returning Nov. 8, and the first ride is free... New Food Options

MIAMI – After months of waiting, Brightline has officially announced it will relaunch its service beginning on Nov. 8 between its Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach stations. Brightline will relaunch with multiple enhancements, including new food and beverage options and complimentary door-to-door transportation in December. Starting Wednesday, passengers can purchase tickets and book future travel plans through Brightline’s new website and mobile app.

MIAMI – On a Sunday morning in October, a group of South Florida residents of varying ages gathered at Kennedy Park in Coconut Grove for a citizen science project. About 30,000 oyster shells have been collected from Michael’s Genuine and Kush restaurants, and they may play a key role in saving Biscayne Bay “We’ve been collecting these since January,” said Tico Aran, founder of Watershed Action Lab. “And this is what we’re going to be using to make the oyster lines.”

The first Jollibee began its life as an ice-cream stand in Manila in 1975 and started franchising in 1978, beating out Ronald McDonald, who didn’t step foot in the Philippines until 1981.

The first legal killing of goliath grouper in Florida in more than 30 years was approved Wednesday, over the objections of divers who photograph the huge fish among wrecks off the South Florida coast. Capable of reaching 600 pounds or more, goliath grouper congregate around ships such as the M/V Castor, a former Dutch freighter seized for cocaine smuggling and sunk off Boynton Beach as an artificial reef. Unafraid of their human admirers, well-known goliaths have been given names such as Wilbur (who has his own Facebook page), Shadow and Betty.

After months of talks, Fort Lauderdale is now one step closer to hiring Elon Musk’s Boring Co. to build twin tunnels to the beach to help cut down on all that maddening traffic. Commissioners approved a plan Tuesday night to begin negotiating with the company and vetting the project.
