Guy Fieri is turning the sands of South Beach into Flavortown. The rock ‘n’ roll Food Network chef is hosting a new “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” themed event to kickoff the first day of the 2022 South Beach Wine & Food Festival, which started selling tickets today for Capital One credit card holders. The four-day festival, which runs Feb. 24-27, is returning to a more normal state than last year, when it pushed back the event three months and cut capacity to about a third. But it will still require guests, chefs and staff to state that they have been vaccinated or have tested negative for COVID-19. Tickets for the general public will go on sale starting Nov. 15.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – It can be purchased in just about any smoke shop, gas station and online. Delta-8 THC is sold in several forms, including vapes, tinctures, candy gummies and versions that can be smoked. “It’s one of our biggest selling things”, one smoke shop employee told Channel 10′s Amy VIteri. “We sell a lot of Delta-8.” Because it comes from hemp, the THC isomer is technically legal in most states, for now. In recent weeks, the FDA and CDC both issued warnings about Delta-8 products, citing serious health risks.

NEARBY / Miami’s Next Over-the-Top Dining Destination

HaSalon, the Tel Aviv destination that’s known as the most extravagant and festive restaurant from pioneering Israeli chef Eyal Shani, is getting ready to make waves in America’s wildest dining city. A new outpost of HaSalon is scheduled to debut on November 17 at a Miami Beach location that was previously home to the storied China Grill. The new restaurant is a partnership between Shani and Major Food Group, the hospitality company that’s shaken up the sizzling Miami dining scene with Carbone and ZZ’s Club. So yes, the chef who shocked New York by serving a $24 sliced tomato with olive oil and sea salt has teamed up with the restaurant group that sells $69 veal Parm. Shani will have a version of this tomato in Miami, and Major Food Group co-owner Jeff Zalaznick says that working with HaSalon feels like a marriage of equals. 

EVENT / Las Olas Wine & Food Festival is back: Updates on who’s pouring, who’s cooking, who’s dancing

The 25th edition of the Las Olas Wine & Food Festival will make its long-awaited comeback in downtown Fort Lauderdale on Friday, Nov. 19, after more than 18 months sidelined by the pandemic. The nighttime open-air fundraiser will run from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Las Olas Boulevard, a showcase for nonstop noshing and sipping with more than 50 area restaurants and more than 40 national and international spirits companies and breweries represented.
