Now that a certain West Coast burger chain is being enticed to relocate to the Sunshine State, visions of Florida's future restaurant possibilities are popping into our heads. Sure, Florida already has Shake Shack, Whataburger, a gangbusters White Castle in Orlando and enough Chick-fil-A locations to feed the entire population of Fort Lauderdale. But hey, with acres upon acres of undeveloped former swamp land and a skyrocketing population, the Sunshine State always has room for more. Here are a couple of chain restaurants – plus some grocery stores and general eateries – that we'd love to see in Florida.

Wells Coffee Opens Second Location in Fort Lauderdale

There’s a new place to get your buzz on in Fort Lauderdale. Locally bred Wells Coffee Company has opened its second café, and, for Fort Lauderdale coffee loyalists, the location is super-familiar. The coffee shop is housed in the former brick-and-mortar home of Grind Coffee Project in the city’s Tarpon River neighborhood. The outpost beams with a wall of windows and is anchored by a glowing blue bar with a white subway tile backsplash. Inside, the menu of coffee concoctions ranges from pour-overs to horchata cold brew to latte art gems – all anchored by Wells’ freshly roasted beans.

NEWS / Lab-Grown Coffee: Scientists Working On Beanless Brews

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Coffee is a crucial part of a lot of our days. Worldwide, people drink more than 600 billion cups every year. Scientists are trying to make sure the coffee never runs out. While the beans traditionally come from tropical regions, scientists in Nordic Finland are generating java in the lab. “We skip the farming part, and we use plant cell cultures instead,” said VTT Research team leader Heiko Rischer.
